Baptism is the first sacrament we
receive by which we become members of the mystical body and
adopted sons and daughters of our God, becoming then, the
brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ. We are empowered by
the Holy Spirit to share in His ministry of reconciling the
world to the Father.
Our celebration of the Sacrament of Baptism takes place in
the midst of the Sunday Assembly at our weekend Masses.
For the Baptism of infants and children we require that the
parents attend a sacramental preparation class prior to the
baptism. These classes are offered here at St. Simon four
times a year. (Watch the Church Bulletin for the dates or
call the Parish office 843-8606).
Children who have attained an age of understanding are also
required to prepare for the Sacrament.
Adults preparing for the
Sacrament of Baptism will participate in the
RCIA program.
