Volunteers share their
time, talents, and treasures not only in the classrooms but also in parish life and formation programs.
It is expected that catechists and catechetical leaders who
serve in the Diocese of Grand Rapids will be certified.
Catechists achieve certification
by attending approved formation opportunities in four
different areas:
1) The Spirituality of the Catechist,
2) Understanding the Person Being Catechized, the Learner,
3) Context and Process of Catechesis -- Method,
4) Message or Content of Catechesis.
All adults
receive background checks, follow the Codes and Standards of
Ministerial Behavior and must attend a 3-hour Protecting God's
Children program. |
