Pre-Cana Formation

  Catechists & Adults
This Pre-Cana Formation program welcomes all engaged couples planning to be married in the Catholic Church.

It will enable couples to have an opportunity to discuss honestly with each other: strengths, communication, finances, family  living, Christian sexuality, the Sacrament of Matrimony, and roles in the Church and society.

Facilitator: Fr. Edward Boucher

Based on the text: Beginning Your Marriage by Thomas and Wagner.

Volunteers share their time, talents, and treasures not only in the classrooms but also in parish life and formation programs.  It is expected that catechists and catechetical leaders who serve in the Diocese of Grand Rapids will be certified.
Catechists achieve certification by attending approved formation opportunities in four different areas:
1) The Spirituality of the Catechist,
2) Understanding the Person Being Catechized, the Learner,
3) Context and Process of Catechesis -- Method,
4) Message or Content of Catechesis.

All adults receive background checks,  follow the Codes and Standards of Ministerial Behavior and must attend a 3-hour Protecting God's Children program.
